This guide explains how to create and submit your own articles for the VeryCloud.fr documentation. By sharing your expertise, you help the entire community make better use of VeryCloud services.
Step 1: Create Your Contributor Account
To get started, you need an account on the documentation platform.
- Go to the registration page: https://doc.verycloud.fr/register
- Complete the form with the required information to finalize your account creation.
Step 2: Review the Existing Documentation
Before you start writing, it's essential to familiarize yourself with the content that has already been published.
- Explore existing articles: https://www.verycloud.fr/docs
This step will allow you to:
- Understand the style and tone used.
- Verify that your topic has not already been covered.
- Identify the relevant categories for your future article.
Step 3: Prepare Your Draft (Recommended)
For an optimal writing experience and to ensure you don't lose any ideas, it is highly recommended to write your article in an external editor before copying it into the VeryCloud interface.
- Use a Markdown editor: A tool like StackEdit is ideal. It's an online editor that allows you to see a real-time preview of your Markdown formatted text.
- Advantages: Automatic saving, offline work, and often a richer interface than integrated web editors.
Step 4: Find Quality Illustrations
Images are crucial for illustrating your points and making the text easier to read. Respecting copyright is mandatory.
- Use royalty-free images: Use free stock photo websites like Unsplash, Pexels, or Pixabay.
- Create your own screenshots: For a tutorial, nothing is more effective than a clear, well-annotated screenshot.
- Respect copyrights: Never use an image found on a search engine without verifying its license.
Step 5: Access the Article Editor
Once your account is created and your draft is ready, log in to the documentation platform.
- Go to the homepage: https://doc.verycloud.fr
- Find the contribution link: Look for a button or a link titled "Write" or "Write an article". It is usually visible once you are logged in.
Step 6: Write and Save Your Article
You are now in the editor. It's time to format your content.
- Copy and paste your draft from your external editor.
- Structure your article: Use headings, bullet points, and numbered lists to make the article easy to follow. Prefer clear steps over a long block of text.
- Default status: Your article will have the status of a draft. This means it is only visible to you, giving you plenty of time to refine it before submitting it for review.
Step 7: Complete the Essential Information
A good article is a well-referenced one. Take the time to meticulously fill in the following fields, for the French version and, if possible, the English version.
- Title: Must be clear, concise, and accurately describe the article's content.
- Category: Choose the most relevant category to help users find your guide.
- Summary: Write a short description of about 50 characters. It should quickly summarize the article's purpose and will be visible in article lists.
- Cover Image:
- The ideal format is 700x400 pixels.
- If you have trouble creating or formatting an image, feel free to ask for help on the VeryCloud community Discord.
- Content of your article: This is the body of your tutorial. Make sure it is:
- Detailed: Do not omit any important steps.
- Easy to understand: Write for users of all skill levels.
- Well-structured: Use headings (
##,###), lists, bold text (**bold**), and code blocks () for maximum readability.
Once all these steps are completed, you can submit your article for review by the VeryCloud team before its publication. Congratulations and thank you for your contribution!
